Qualifications
Education:
Completion of some College / CEGEP / Vocational or Technical Training
Red Seal or equivalent desirable
2 – 3 years supervisory experience in a production environment
6 – 9 years applicable trade experience in an industrial, mechanical, manufacturing or shipbuilding environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Key Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and coordinate work of employees on crew
Assign work, set expectations and accountability for completion
Ensure quality and timeliness of work is completed within budgeted parameters
Assign and status jobs/coordinate operational schedule
Adhere to labour contract and ensure compliance
Communicate with other supervisors to help achieve and maintain smooth work flow and a high degree of productivity
Foster an environment that is focused on safety and recommend process improvement initiatives
Comply with all company procedures

POSITION: Quality Control Inspector, Combat Systems

Quality Control Inspector in Ship Repair. Key functions include inspecting all work to ensure adherence to SPECs, Standards and codes, liaise with our customer to ensure satisfaction and signoff for acceptance, complete all required documents for turnover to Canada, and assist production to maintain first time right. Help maintain our ISO standard through monitoring and measuring of products and processes. Writing NCRs and CARs as required.
Qualifications
Education required:
Technical Diploma or equivalent experience required;
Applicable trade certifications considered an asset;
ISO 9001 training an asset;
CWB, NACE, considered an asset;
Experience required:
5 years’ experience in quality control in a Naval Ship Repair setting;
Computer knowledge with a focus on Microsoft office products;
Strong communication skills with the ability to handle high pressure situations;
Experience performing and participating in audits considered an asset;
Experience writing and completing NCRs, CARs.

The rate of pay for these positions is $43.00 per hour, as per our current Collective Agreement.

- Candidates will be required to work at heights from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms; stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and climb and work in confined spaces and inclement weather and support extended hours and overtime as business needs dictate.
- Work may be performed indoors and outdoors.
- You will frequently handle, lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment that weigh up to fifty (50lbs) pounds.
- Occasionally lift and carry items that weigh over fifty (50lbs) pounds
